March Comes in Like a Lion

In Sights and Sounds of the Seasons we talked about the popular saying,

"March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb."

This particular March happened just so, and we made mixed media lions to represent the cold and blustery weather. Here's how we did it.
  •  Children learned how to draw a simple lion face and colored them with oil pastels.
  • These were cut out and set aside.
  •   Each student was given an oaktag circle that serves as the base for the mane.  Collage elements like yarn, construction paper, and "green" brown packing material were all cut and glued to the mane.
  •  The lion was glued on last in the center of the mane.
